I was in my easy chair late last night reading news and one social media post alarmed me to believe yet another social contract I've relied upon for the last few years was jeopardized.
The Social Security Administration has updated their web site Terms of Service to disclaim any responsibility for "the improper disclosure of any information that the Social Security Administration has provided to me or any information that is on or from my computer or other device, whether due to my negligence or the wrongful acts of others."
Several questions immediately came to mind:
Can I no longer trust the information the Social Security Administration has provided to me?
Can the Social Security Administration now read information on my computer without my consent when I login?
Can the Social Security Administration now collect and disseminate information from my computer without my consent?
Is the Social Security Administration now anticipating others will be provided my information or access to my computer or data without my consent and disclaiming responsibility?
I think it's time to get involved and call my Congressional Representatives and Senators to report this blatant abuse of our ow devices and personal information.
I'll also notify my local chapter of http://ACLU.org to get them into gear as well.
This. Must. Stop.
